Diarmuid McCoy is a Specialist Pain Medicine Physician. He graduated from the University College of Cork, before undertaking vocational training at St Vincent's University Hospital in Dublin.
He worked as a Senior Fellow at Flinders University in Adelaide, before taking up a position as a Consultant Pain Medicine Physician at The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust in Liverpool.
Dr McCoy returned to Australia in 2004, where he has since been based in Geelong. He has been a Clinical Director of the pain management unit at Barwon Health since 2004, and is now a Director with Pain Matrix.
Dr McCoy is a Senior Lecturer at Deakin University Medical School. A fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine at ANZCA he is a member of the Training Unit Assessment Committee and the Research Committee. Dr McCoy has been an examiner at the faculty for the past 6 years. He is frequently asked to speak at state, national and international meetings including the Australian Pain Society Canberra 2013 and the Annual Scientific meeting of ANZCA Hong Kong 2010. He has authored a number of papers and a book chapter on the subject of pain.
