Dr Singh trained at Lady Hardinge Medical College, India for her MBBS degree then worked as an Emergency Medicine physician for over nine years in Fiji, Adelaide, and Sydney. This has given her perspective on the relationship between the physical body and psychological symptoms. Dr Singh trained in psychiatry with the Western Sydney Network then pursued further skills in forensic psychiatry and psychodynamic psychotherapy. She has previously worked at South Pacific Private Hospital for three years and has her own private practice.
Dr Singh is of Fiji-Indian background and is fluent in speaking Hindi and English. She understands the role cultural issues play in a person’s life. She is inspired by and privileged to be available and present with people negotiating their deepest despair from mental impairments.
Dr Singh adopts a holistic approach for psychiatric recovery from all mental health difficulties that addresses the Bio-Psycho-Social-Cultural-Spiritual psychiatric formulation underpinning the individualised management plan. This includes attention to psychotropic medications, EMDR, healthy lifestyle choices, and maintaining the circadian rhythm. Treatment is tailored to empower the person to accept responsibility for their mental health & well-being and to develop optimal psychosocial functioning by embracing their reality and choices available to live successfully.
Dr Singh is experienced in working with personality disorders. She is skilled in general psychiatry; psychotropic medication use; psychodynamic psychotherapy; family and couple therapy; and forensic psychiatry.
