Dr Des Darrer is married and with his wife Grainne, has two spirited young daughters, Miranda and Mairead. For a number of years now Des has been very involved in and enthusiastic about accreditation and education of GPs at several different levels, and in 2005 was awarded the inaugural VMA GP Supervisor of the Year award. He graduated from Melbourne University in 1983 and did a year of voluntary work in 1991-92 on an island of 1000 people in South Pacific where he held the grandiose title of “Head of the Health Department”. He joined Rowville Health in early 1993 (and is here for good).
