Dr Deepa graduated in 2007 from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M. G. R. Medical University, India, and then worked in the challenging Primary Care Facilities in rural and remote India, before moving to Australia in 2010 where she gained further work experience in wide range of settings.

She underwent specialist training in General Practice under the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners pathway program and successfully completed her Australian Medical Council examination and her fellowship examination by Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

As a vocationally trained FRACGP doctor, she is committed to keeping her skills up to date by undertaking advanced courses, training, and workshops.

Before moving to Brisbane, she worked in General Practice in Sarina, near Mackay for 3 years. During this period, she developed a special interest in Women’s Sexual & Reproductive Health and can offer Burpengary East Medical Centre patients a range of family planning options – including Mirena and Implanon Insertion.

She is especially good with children and has a keen interest in Child & Adolescent Health as well as other aspects of General Practice, such as management of mental health conditions, management of chronic conditions including Diabetes, Hypertension, Kidney impairment and Asthma.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son and enjoys fishing, listening to music and craftwork.
