David McKnight has been practicing as an ophthalmologist in Ballarat since 1989. He has worked at Ballarat Eye clinic as well as been a senior consultant ophthalmologist at the Ballarat Base Hospital.
He has now divided his time between Melbourne and Ballarat for a variety of professional and personal reasons.
In Melbourne, he is at The Alfred Hospital as a Visiting Medical Officer and also consults privately at Male St. Eye Clinic in Brighton, operating at both the Alfred hospital as well as Cabrini Hospital, Brighton.
David's experience in ophthalmology is widespread with expertise in cataract surgery having performed several thousand cases. As such, he teaches and supervises registrars at The Alfred in such surgery.
He is very comfortable with medical and surgical management of glaucoma, treatment of oculoplastic procedures including dacryocystorhinostomy, ectropion and entropion, lid tumours, and ptosis. He is also happy to consult and manage cases of ocular inflammations such as uveitis and performs treatments for age-related macular degeneration such as intravitreal anti-VEGF injections.
