Graduated from Melbourne University in 1980 before working at Box Hill Hospital for three years in a variety of positions including obstetrics and paediatrics. Completed general practice training by working for a year as a psychiatric trainee and then for a further year as a geriatric registrar. Joined Ivanhoe Medical Clinic in 1987 as a full time practioner. Involved as a board member and as Vice President of the North Eastern Division of General practice for 10 years. Associated with North Eastern Rehab Hospital and Warringal over many years and sat on advisory committees for Geriatric care and respecting patient choices program. Long interest in Geriatric Medicine and Care of the Elderly as well as Travel and travel Medicine.
