Darren is originally from Northern Ireland, but grew up in bayside Melbourne and worked as an analytical chemist before completing a medical degree at Melbourne University. His clinical studies led him to many parts of regional Victoria and he came to the Ballarat region for internship. During four years at the Ballarat Base Hospital he enrolled in general practice with ACRRM (Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine) and completed an anaesthetics year. He currently lives in Ballarat with his young family and is poised for a career as a procedural GP with a broad interest in all areas of medicine including anaesthetics, obstetrics, pain, palliative care, emergency and chronic disease. “The Daylesford township enjoys a strong sense of community and the medical centre, hospital, community health centre and nursing homes are the backbone of the town’s health care.
