Dr Gold is a specialist colorectal surgeon with a subspecialist interest in proctology and inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis. He helps patients overcome problems such as haemorrhoids, anal pain, anal fissure, pilonidal sinus, anal fistula, faecal incontinence and constipation.
Dr Gold qualified from the University of London in 1989. He spent 11 years undertaking surgical training in hospitals throughout England, including a research year at the world famous St Mark's Hospital for fistula and anal disease, culminating in the award of a Masters in Surgical Science in 1997.
Following a post-fellowship year of training as the Resident Surgical Officer at St Marks and a short sabbatical at the Mount Sinaii Hospital in Toronto, Dr Gold took up an appointment as consultant colorectal surgeon at Basingstoke Hospital in Hampshire, an internationally recognised unit for the management of cancer of the colon and rectum. He was also a colorectal surgeon at the Pelican Centre, Basingstoke, a specialist cancer unit dedicated to disorders of the pelvis and liver.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS), an Intercollegiate Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS).
