Daniel Wong is a specialist general surgeon who graduated from Monash University in 2000. He completed surgical training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2010.

He underwent further post-fellowship training in Melbourne, dealing with breast and thyroid conditions.

Daniel has a special interest in hernia surgery, undertaking numerous advanced courses in Sydney and Brisbane as well as London and USA. He specialises in the repair of complex, large and recurrent hernias performing these laparoscopically, open or as a hybrid of these two techniques in order to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Daniel also performs a wide range of other general surgery, including gallbladders and skin cancers and is fully accredited to perform gastroscopy and colonoscopy.

He also has training in hand surgery and local flap reconstruction of difficult skin lesions.

Daniel is Director of Surgery at Maryborough Hospital and the supervisor of surgical interns there. He is also active in the training of surgical registrars and recently has taken up the role of Supervisor of surgical training in Ballarat.

Daniel has enjoyed living in Ballarat since 2011 and has clinical appointments at Ballarat Health Services, St John of God Hospital Ballarat, Ballarat Day Procedure Centre and Maryborough District Health Service.
