Daniel van Langenberg graduated from medical school (Monash University) in 2001 before completing his physician and gastroenterology training at Royal Adelaide Hospital and at Eastern Health, Melbourne. In 2012, he completed his PhD (Monash University) investigating the effects of Crohn’s disease on daily living, especially in relation to fatigue, physical and cognitive functioning.
Since then, he holds a Senior Lecturer appointment at the Eastern Health Clinical School, Monash University. In his brief research career thus far, he has already authored over 20 publications in peer-reviewed literature, has presented his research on multiple occasions both nationally and internationally, and was awarded the prestigious Douglas Piper Young Investigator award for his research at the annual Australian gastroenterology conference (AGW) in 2011, and is the current holder of a Ferring GESA IBD Clinician Establishment Fellowship (2013-14).
Daniel is also a keen, astute clinician with multiple interests in gastroenterology including inflammatory bowel disease and functional gastrointestinal disorders. He is the Head of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) service and visiting specialist (Gastroenterology) at Eastern Health attending weekly inflammatory bowel disease clinics at Box Hill and Maroondah Hospitals.
