Dr Damon Thomas graduated from the University of Auckland, New Zealand in 1996. As a newly graduated doctor Damon developed a passion for the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery, in particular the areas of paediatric hand, adult hand, microvascular and breast surgery. His plastic surgical training was spent in Auckland and Christchurch where these interests were fine tuned, completing his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in plastic and reconstructive surgery in 2005.

Damon obtained a scholarship from the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery to undertake a fellowship at the Melbourne Institute of Plastic Surgery in 2006. Expertise in the field of aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgery was gained including breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast reconstruction, facial aesthetic surgery, abdominoplasty and other aspects of body contouring surgery.

The following year was then spent at the Royal Children'’s Hospital Melbourne, as the Paediatric Hand and Microvascular Surgery Fellow. This provided the opportunity to develop his interest in managing paediatric hand and upper limb conditions including congenital anomalies, cerebral palsy, and acquired conditions such as obstetric brachial plexus palsy.

Damon also performs surgery for hand and facial trauma, microvascular reconstruction, skin cancers, Dupuytren’'s disease, hand arthritis, carpal tunnel, sarcoma and salivary control.

Damon is a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS), the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is appointed as a Paediatric Hand and Microvascular Surgeon at The Royal Children’'s Hospital Melbourne. Damon also works as a plastic and reconstructive surgeon at Barwon, Austin and Peninsula Health.
