Cees is the clinical lead at Kaizen Clinics (Oakleigh South). Cees has over 15 years of experience working as a doctor and he is renowned for his approachable manner. He studied Medicine at the University of Amsterdam and completed placements in tropical medicine in Africa and South America. He worked in various specialties such as General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Ear, Nose and Throat and Head and Neck surgery and he gained valuable experience in Preventative Medicine focussing on adolescent health, juvenile obesity and the early detection of depression and anxiety in children.
Cees is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
Cees is married and has three energetic boys. He likes to spend time with his family and friends. He has to do a fair bit of running around with his boys to various sports and competitions and in between manages to look after his veggie garden, doing some fishing and cooking.
He enjoys all aspects of General Practice but he has a particular interest in:
- Skin cancer diagnostics and regular skin checks
- Mental health including assistance with depression and anxiety
- Family planning and contraception (including Implanon insertion and removal)
- Small surgical procedures such as steroid injections into joints, skin procedures, ingrown toenail removal, cyst removal and wound care;
- Preventative medicine including medication review, immunisations, smoking cessation and regular health checks
- Chronic disease management such as diabetes, asthma and cardiovascular issues
- Ear nose throat problems, including sleep issues such as snoring/ sleep apnoea and lodged foreign bodies
