Originally from Scotland, Colleen graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in the North East of England where she completed her medical degree in 2005 and subsequently her General Practice training. In addition to her GP qualifications she has developed particular interests in the following specialties: Obstetrics and Gynaecology – in particular, contraception, HRT and pregnancy-related problems and will soon be offering antenatal shared care; Paediatrics – child health and development, other common childhood problems with a focus on constipation and bed-wetting; and, Rheumatology – with a specific interest in managing osteoarthritis in the general practice setting (hip, knee and shoulder); back pain, and other joint and soft tissue problems, eg. Tennis elbow. Proficient in administration of knee and shoulder steroid joint injections. While Colleen’s formal training and practical experience in the UK honed her skills, one of the reasons she emigrated to Australia with her husband was to be able to practice in an environment where she can provide quality patient care. This is something she feels particularly passionate about and she is joining Wellness Medicine because of the WM commitment to provide this high standard of care. The other thing that brought her here was the prospect of better weather and a more outdoor lifestyle. Colleen knows the importance of having a good balance between work and personal life and the importance of fitness to good health. Since moving here in 2014 she has discovered a strong interest in simply learning more and more about the Australian way of life.
