Dr Sheppard studied Medicine at the University of Melbourne, graduating in 1976. He studied Ophthalmology at Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital and after graduation worked there for a number of years. Colin was one of the early pioneers of phacoemulsification cataract surgery. He founded the Essendon Eye Clinic in 1983. He works across the full range of adult and paediatric general ophthalmology and is a busy and respected cataract surgeon operating at John Fawkner Hospital. He also performs aviation medical ophthalmic examinations (CASA).
