Cindy is a clinical psychologist whose treatment areas include chronic pain and injury management, mood and affective disorders, trauma, adjustment to illness, workplace stress and personality disorder. She has interest in the interaction between personality and mental and physical health conditions. More recently she has been extending this focus to understanding the influence of personality on medical conditions and on facilitating optimal patient outcomes post diagnosis, injury, or surgery. She has extensive experience in assessing and treating individuals with occupational injury and work disability, and she has published research into the psychosocial aspects of return to work processes for compensable injury.
Prior to moving into independent practice in Darwin in 2005 Cindy’s career was primarily in occupational rehabilitation and injury management – providing assessment and delivering group and individual therapy. Subsequently, she undertook her doctoral research into the psychological aspects of workplace injury and divided her time between private practice and academia. Cindy has held academic appointment with Charles Darwin and Flinders Universities, and currently holds Academic Status at Flinders University in the School of Medicine.
Having relocated to Adelaide in 2013, she has joined the practice in Dec 2016 is accepting referrals under private, Medicare, compensation or other third-party pathways.
