Dr Millar has a passion for bringing medical care to rural communities. Chris has employed this passion in remote communities including those in the Western Province of Solomon Islands. There he was the sole doctor and Director of Medical Services. While servicing this community Chris was the driving force behind and project manager for the construction of the Taro and Namuga Hospitals in the Solomon Islands. Prior to Chris’ work in the Solomon Islands he was a registrar at King Street Medical Centre and Cabarita Beach Medical Centre in 2005. It was this experience that secured Chris as an addition to our community where he chose to return as a GP and where he is now a practice partner. From an educational perspective Chris is, like in his overseas ventures, a high achiever: Dr Millar graduated from medical school at the University of Otago in 1998.; He has qualifications of Diploma in Child Health; FRACGP (Fellowship of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners); and Postgraduate qualification in international Health and Development. Additionally, Chris is a VMO (visiting Medical Officer) at Murwillumbah Hospital and as such has admitting rights there. He is also a Clinical lecturer and mentor for the University of Wollongong (UCRH – Murwillumbah). Chris’s medical interests include: Paediatrics; Skin excisions; Chronic disease management; and Tropical medicine. Outside of medicine Chris’ personal interests include surfing and gardening. He is married and is the father of 4 beautiful girls and they live in the local area.
