Graduating in 1975 from University of Adelaide, he did his intern year at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in 1976. In 1977, he spent six months doing obstetrics at the Queen Victoria Hospital in Adelaide where he obtained his Dip. (Obst.) R.C.O.G and he spent six months at the Adelaide Children’s Hospital practising paediatric medicine. In 1978, he spent four months doing psychiatry. He then studied and worked in the United Kingdom for three years in a variety of medical fields. In 1981, he returned to Australia and started his own general practice in Melbourne. He has been working in general practice ever since.
Dr Bagot is a vocationally registered GP. He has been a member of the Board of Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine and has lectured for this college. He was also the vice-president of the Australasian College of Herbal Medicine and senior lecturer. Both of these colleges’ prime purposes are to educate Doctors in the scientific and ethical use of nutritional and herbal therapies in practice. Dr Bagot has also lectured in nutritional medicine for the Graduate School of Integrative Medicine at Swinburne University of Technology.
Over many years he has had a great deal of experience using a variety of natural therapies where appropriate to treat conditions where there is no effective conventional treatment but his main focus is in the delivery of the highest possible standard of general and preventative medicine in his general practice. He gets his greatest pleasure from looking after his patients and their families’ total health needs.
