Dr Jalilian is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists (FACD). Dr Jalilian completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees thanks to several national and international scholarship programmes. Prior to completing his medical degree at the Australian National University, he obtained a degree in Biomedical Science at Monash University and received first class honours for his research in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He undertook subsequent training in medicine, specialising in dermatology at various hospitals and clinics including The Alfred Hospital and the associated Victorian Melanoma Service, Monash Medical Centre, St Vincent’s hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and the Skin and Cancer Foundation Victoria. During his training, Dr Jalilian was published in national and international peer-reviewed journals including the esteemed British Journal of Dermatology. He has also been a prize winner at an Australian Scientific Meeting and has presented at an international level at the World Congress of Dermoscopy. Dr Jalilian is drawn towards the medical, surgical and cosmetic diversity that dermatology offers and manages all forms skin, hair and nails disorders. He enjoys the unique opportunity his speciality provides to positively impact his patients’ quality of life, whether through early detection and treatment of skin cancer or managing functionally and cosmetically disfiguring skin conditions. He makes every attempt to alleviate fears, misconceptions and the embarrassment that some skin conditions bring with them and appreciates the great psychological burden that many of his patients suffer. He also understands the importance of patient and public education needed to empower patients about their skin in health and disease. In addition to his private practice, Dr Jalilian serves as a consultant dermatologist at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton where he consults in the paediatric eczema clinic & general medical dermatology clinic. At the Skin & Cancer Foundation, Carlton, Dr Jalilian consults in the melanoma follow up clinic. Dr Jalilian has also held an appointment as a consultant dermatologist at the Royal Children’s Hospital in laser dermatology. He is involved in teaching dermatology registrars at Monash Health and Skin & Cancer Foundation. Dr Jalilian has been involved in various committees and taskforce groups for the Australasian College of Dermatologists. To keep up to date at the with the latest dermatology research and new treatments, Dr Jalilian regularly attends international and local conferences covering medical, surgical, laser and cosmetic dermatology. Dr Jalilian holds professional memberships within the Australian Medical Association, American Association of Dermatologists, Australian Society of Cosmetic Dermatologists, International Dermoscopy Society, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, European Society of Laser Dermatology and The Dermatologic and Aesthetic Surgery International League.
