Christopher Arthur, (MBBS (hons - UNSW), FRACP, FRCPA) holds appointments as a senior staff specialist in Haematology at Royal North Shore Hospital and consultant haematologist at the Northern Cancer Institute (St. Leonards and Frenchs Forest).
Dr. Arthur earned his medical degree from the University of New South Wales and completed his basic specialist physician training at Royal North Shore Hospital. He undertook specialist training in haematology at Royal North Shore Hospital and then completed haematology training in London. While in London he served in a diversity of posts at The Hammersmith Hospital, Royal Free Hospital, Great Ormond Street Children's hospital and the North Middlesex hospital. He gained valuable experience in Bone Marrow transplantation and Chronic Myeloid Leukemia under the guidance of Prof John Goldman at the Royal Imperial College Hammersmith Hospital. Research currently being conducted by Dr. Arthur includes the study of novel treatments for chronic myeloid leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and reduced-intensity allogeneic transplants. He is also an active participant in studies by the Australasian Leukaemia and Lymphoma Group. Dr. Arthur’s interests also include the use of telehealth systems for remote patient care and consultation, and the development of electronic health records and haematology/oncology software management systems for better patient care. He is a member of the Haematology Society of Australasia & New Zealand, European Haematology Association, American Society of Hematology, American Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation. He has published nearly 50 scientific articles.
