Charles Su was educated in Melbourne. He studied Medicine at the University of Melbourne, winning the two undergraduate Ophthalmology medals. His internship and residency were done at Royal Melbourne Hospital. Then he completed a Master of Surgery (University of Melbourne). Ophthalmology registrar years were completed at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. He won the medal for excellence in the national final specialist examination taken in 1994. He was an oculoplastic fellow in Brisbane in 1995. In 1995-6 he was a Fellow in the Eye Plastic and Orbital Surgery Service of the University of Michigan's Kellogg Eye Center, USA He has been in private practice and public hospital attendance in Melbourne since 1996. He has published articles in peer reviewed journals including the Archives of Ophthalmology (USA), the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Ophthalmology, The Australian Medical Journal, and Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has received an Achievement Award for continuing teaching as an instructor in their annual meeting instruction course program. He teaches and lectures to students at the University of Melbourne and to ophthalmic trainees at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital.
