Dr Charles Dick is an Australian trained General orthopaedic surgeon with a specialist interest in the treatment of conditions affecting the upper limb (hand, wrist, elbow & shoulder) and knee including total joint arthroplasty for degenerative conditions of the shoulder, hip and knee.
He is accredited at the Nambour Selangor Private Hospital and offers his services on the Sunshine Coast to private patients and patients covered by DVA or workers compensation Queensland.
Charles was born in Ballymena, Northern Ireland. He graduated from Ballymena Academy top of his class and went on to attend one of the best Medical schools in the UK at The University of Newcastle Upon Tyne. Graduating with a Merit in 2000, he commenced surgical training with the Royal College of Surgeons of England. During his surgical training, he also worked as an anatomy demonstrator and lecturer at the University of Leeds. After successfully completing 4 years of basic surgical training in 2006 and being awarded Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons England, he emigrated to Australia to be with his wife, who is an anaesthetist from the Sunshine Coast.
He completed further orthopaedic training with the Queensland advanced orthopaedic training programme and was awarded his Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2015, and is a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association.
Charles currently holds a consultant position at Nambour General Hospital, is a training supervisor to advanced trainees of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and is actively involved in the training and education of medical students. He is also an Associate Professor of the University of Queensland, where he delivers lectures and participates in anatomy tutorials for the students. He is a member of the Queensland Hand Society and regularly attends conferences and seminars to further his knowledge and surgical skills.
