Dr Charles Chao is an Associate of the Queensland Cardiovascular Group. His special interests are in general cardiology, ischaemic heart disease, valvular heart disease, heart failure, and cardiac imaging (echocardiography, cardiac CT and cardiac MRI).
Dr Chao graduated from the University of Melbourne Medical School in 2002. He completed his basic and advanced physician training at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital and Princess Alexandra Hospital, and obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Cardiology in 2010. Dr Chao then completed a Fellowship in non-invasive cardiac imaging (transthoracic, transoesophageal, stress echocardiography, and cardiac CT) at MonashHeart, Monash Medical Centre in Victoria, followed by a Fellowship in Cardiac MRI at The Heart Hospital in London, UK. He passed the EuroCMR exam in Vienna in 2012, and has Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) Level 3 and Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR) Level 2 accreditations.
Dr Chao is a Staff Specialist at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland. He was an invited speaker at RADaim 2012. He is a Member of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ), American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) and Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR). He is a Registered Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and General Medical Council (GMC) UK.
