Dr Cerys Jones graduated from the University Of Queensland School Of Medicine in 2007 and completed her junior Doctor training in Brisbane at the Princess Alexandra and Mater Mothers’ Hospitals. She completed a Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (DRANZCOG) during this time.

She also gained valuable experience in Paediatrics and Emergency care, obtaining a Diploma in Child Health from the Westmead Children’s Hospital. Her GP training was done both in Brisbane and regional Queensland and she was awarded her FRACGP in 2011.

Dr Jones has a particular interest in women’s health and family planning and is accredited to provide shared antenatal care for women at all major Maternity hospitals in Melbourne. She also has a keen interest in infant and early childhood health and development, an area that she has come to understand having become a parent herself in 2014, together with her husband Dr Owen Latimer.

Dr Jones has undertaken a number of post-graduate certificates in Skin Cancer medicine and surgery through the UQ-Healthcert consortium and is highly skilled in this area.

Outside of work Cerys is a busy mother, a keen traveller, an avid reader and a passionate advocate for human rights, working pro-bono at the Melbourne Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. Unfortunately she is an equally passionate Brisbane Lions supporter despite her husband’s complaints.
