Dr Slaughter graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School in 1997 and undertook her residency training throughout Queensland and the Northern Territory. Her advanced training in Ophthalmology on the Queensland training program, was completed in 2006.
She completed a fellowship in cataract and anterior segment surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane and had further experience working as a Senior Fellow in Exeter, United Kingdom.
She has particular interests in cataract surgery and general ophthalmology.
Dr Slaughter is a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) and The Australasian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (AUSCRS). She regularly attends national and international meetings to keep up to date with the latest advances in Ophthalmology.
She currently is a Visiting Medical Officer at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and is a Senior Clinical Lecturer for the University of Queensland. Dr Slaughter is the current Director of Training for the Queensland registrar training program and was awarded a RANZCO Trainer of Excellence award in 2010.
Dr Slaughter is married with three children and enjoys travelling, fitness, sport, cooking and outdoor activities.
