Professor Hojaij studied medicine in Sao Paulo, Brazil and was admitted as Specialist in Psychiatry by the Brazilian Association of Psychiatry in 1972.

Porfessor Hojaij has had an extensive career in Psychiatry and was both Founder and Director of the Psychiatric Clinical Services at the University Hospital Santa Casa and the Consultation Liaison Service at the Private Hospital Samaritano, in Sao Paulo.

Professor Hojaij has taught undergraduate medical students in Psychiatry, Psychopathology and Clinical Psychiatry in Brazil and was Associate Professor at Melbourne University from 1998 – 2001.

Professor Hojaij has had an impressive career and presided over many national and international conferences in Psychiatry. He has also been a guest presenter at many conferences internationally. Professor Hojaij is well published in many medical journals and psychiatric books. His major interest areas are Schizophrenia, Depression and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Professor Hojaij has lived in Australia for 14 years and has worked at University of Melbourne, The Melbourne Clinic and been Executive Director of the Bendigo Health Care Group. He founded the Melbourne Institute of Biological Psychiatry.
