Dr Drury is an Australian trained Ophthalmologist who has also undertaken further specialist training in United Kingdom at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital

Cataract surgery Micro Invasive Glaucoma Surgery Pterygium surgery Complex glaucoma surgery Medical retina and macular disease Dr Drury began his career as an Optometrist, working on the Gold and Tweed Coasts before returning to study medicine. He excelled academically, being awarded the University Medal, the highest academic honour, as well as multiple academic awards including the Griffith Award for Academic Excellence, Gold Coast Medical Association Inc. Prize, Cooper Vision and Don Noack Prizes.

Dr Drury completed his Ophthalmology training in Queensland before moving to the United Kingdom to undergo further subspecialty training in glaucoma. He trained at the renowned Manchester Royal Eye Hospital (MREH) and is experienced in the full array of glaucoma procedures including traditional surgery such as trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage implants, as well as Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS). This training also enabled Dr Drury to become experienced in complex cataract surgery. Owing to his background as an optometrist, Dr Drury also enjoys refractive challenges and has a keen interest in optimising refractive outcomes following cataract surgery.

Dr Drury also maintains active research interests in retinal disease, glaucoma and ocular oncology, having published in a number of international journals. Through his education and supervisory pursuits, Dr Drury also supervises the training of future Ophthalmologists on the Queensland ophthalmology training program.
