Dr. Beshoy Farah is a specialist Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at St George Hospital, Sydney; as well as Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital.
He has a Bachelor degree of Medicine (Cairo University 2003), a Master degree in General Medicine (Cairo University 2009), and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and is currently a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Gastroenterology and GESA (Gastroenterological Society of Australia).
Dr Farah has extensive experience in the management of viral hepatitis (hepatitis B & C) and cirrhosis, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative colitis), bowel cancer screening and peptic ulcer disease.
Services that Dr. Farah provide are diagnostic and interventional gastroscopies including variceal band ligation, removal of esophageal and gastric polyps, thermal coagulation and endoclips for bleeding peptic ulcers, balloon dilatation of achalasia, dilatation of esophageal strictures using Savary-Gilliard or CRE balloon dilators.
He also performs diagnostic and interventional colonoscopies, which include the use of hemostatic procedures for management of acute lower GI bleeding utilizing argon photocoagulation, bipolar probe, endoclips as well as hemorrhoids banding and polypectomy.
Other services include Fibroscan (non-invasive liver biopsy); management of general gastroenterology, hepato-biliary and liver diseases.
Dr Farah has carried out research in viral hepatitis, liver disease and is a sub-investigator in many trials for the new HCV treatment as well as clinical trials for Hepatocellular carcinoma treatment.
