Dr Eksteen joined Mingara medical in Oct 2013. Originally from South Africa, he spent 17 yrs in general practice in Canada before deciding to join previous colleagues of his in sunny Australia. Dr Eksteen enjoys all aspects of general practice, from neonatal care to palliative care, including all acute and chronic ailments and prenatal shared care. Women’s health including contraception, pap smears and Mirena IUD insertion are also areas of interest.
Dr Eksteen has done further training in skin cancer treatment including a certificate in skin cancer medicine and he manages a range of skin care conditions, including skin cancer screening and management.
He promotes a holistic approach to medicine and health in general and appreciates the value of a balanced lifestyle and prevention of disease.
In addition to this, Dr Eksteen has also had excellent experience in sports medicine having worked in close relation with several Orthopedic Surgeons with a subspecialty in sports related injuries. He also has an interest and a background in peri-operative medicine.
Personally, Ben enjoys spending time with his young family. He lives an active lifestyle, including long-distance cycling, mountain biking, running and triathlon, having competed and finished in the Canadian Ironman competition.
