Dr Janssen is a rheumatologist who specialises in the diagnosis and medical management of musculoskeletal conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR), gout, neck and back pain, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), systemic sclerosis (scleroderma), polymyositis and vasculitis.
Dr Janssen graduated from the University of Sydney Medical School, after being awarded the RNSH Medical Board Prize in Medicine for gaining (equal) first place in her final examinations. She subsequently undertook her specialist training at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney, the Schulthess Hospital, Zurich, Switzerland and at the hospitals associated with the University of Birmingham, UK. She completed her Master of Medicine in the area of SLE, and subsequently gained her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Birmingham for her research into primary systemic necrotising vasculitis. Her research has been presented at numerous national and international conferences, and has been published in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr Janssen returned to Sydney in 1997, where she set up in private practice. She consults at the North Sydney Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre, and also has rooms in Mosman and in Sydney’s CBD. She is a visiting medical officer (VMO) at Royal North Shore Hospital, and also has admitting rights at the Mater, North Shore Private and Mosman Private hospitals.
