Asiye (Sia) was born and grew in Gladstone Qld and from the age of 8 she wanted to become a Doctor. She graduated in Medicine in 1996 from the University of Newcastle in NSW. Sia did her General Surgical training at John Hunter Hospital, The Royal Newcastle followed by The Princess Alexandra and Queen Elizabeth Hospitals in Brisbane. Sia then spent 10 years at The Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne and rotated through Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Neonatal Intensive Care before settling into the role as a Senior Medical Officer within the Emergency Department. She also gained a Master’s in Public Health. Sia started General Practice Training at Brendale Medical Centre in 2012 where she realized that was where she wished to spend the rest of her career. She has recently done a 12 month rotation at Yuli Burri Ba Mums and Bubs Aboriginal Clinic in Capalaba which was a wonderful experience. She has gained her Fellowship with the Royal College of General Practitioners.
