Dr Ashok Chotai is a Uganda-born GP who finished his medical training at Leeds University in 1968. Ashok undertook a one year internship at Leeds General Infirmary before spending two years as 1 of 2 Medical Officers in a small hospital in Kenya. He then spent two years as a Rotational Medical Registrar at St James University Hospital in Leeds. After moving to Australia in 1976, he worked as a Rotational Medical Registrar at Rockhampton Base Hospital and The Greenslopes Repatriation Hospital. Dr Chotai's special interests involve preventive care, minor surgery, elderly health, and teaching. His favourite thing about being a SmartClinics GP is the great support team. He is now semi-retired and has been living on the Gold Coast since 2014. Ashok enjoys playing Bridge at local clubs as well as long walks in the wilderness. He is married with one son and two beautiful granddaughters.
