Dr Arthur Grillas has many years of experience as a Consultant Gastroenterologist, completing his medical degree at the University of Tasmania in 1986. Dr Grillas was a resident and a registrar at Prince of Wales and Prince Henry Hospitals and then completed his Advanced Training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Prince of Wales Hospital in 1994, acquiring Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He is recognised by Australia’s peak endoscopy accreditation body, The Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRTGE). Dr Grillas is a Senior Staff Specialist in Gastroenterology at the Wollongong Hospital campus and trains medical students, junior doctors and trainee specialists, and also has private consulting rooms in Sydney. He has membership with the professional societies including the Gastrointestinal Society of Australia, the American Society of Gastroenterological Endoscopy (ASGE) and the Australian Medical Association (AMA). Dr Grillas joined the BMI team in 2017, and has an interest in preventative health and obesity management with minimally invasive endoscopic techniques. He performs gastric balloon procedures (insertions, removals and adjustments) which are all supported by the BMI Lifestyle Programme.
