Anthony practices with an osteopathic philosophy which focuses on applying modern evidence based medicine with traditional osteopathic philosophy with hands on osteopathic techniques. Anthony has experience in the co-management of a wide variety of types of patients and conditions from adults with headaches, TMJ syndrome, back pain, sports injuries, complex pain (e.g. fibromyalgia) and pregnancy related pain to infants and babies and their musculo-skeletal complaints. He believes in the osteopathic principals of finding the health of the individual with an aim of recovery enhancement, injury prevention, and augmentation of general well-being.
Anthony commenced his medical studies in 2004 with a Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences Degree at Victoria University and then transferring into a Bachelor of Clinical Sciences. He then went on to complete his Masters of Health Science in Osteopathy at Victoria University. He has also undertaken extracurricular studies on areas such as the immune system in osteopathic practice and osteopathic considerations and treatment of common clinical presentations (e.g. asthma, the gastrointestinal tract, dysmenorrhea, and headaches).
Anthony has also undergone further study in osteopathy in the cranial field, biodynamics, thoracic (chest) inlet function integrating visceral and bio-mechanics, managment of chronic low back and spinal pain, pediatrics and osteopathic treatment of infants and children.
The treatment approach of Dr. Anthony Dileo (Osteopath) is based on patient need and varies from gentle soft tissue, articulation, and cranial osteopathy (especially for complex pain, infants and children) through to muscle energy technique, manipulation, and soft tissue techniques (e.g. for sports injuries). Anthony has undergone further study to enhance the hands on osteopathic treatment approach and prides himself on applying traditional osteopathic manual therapy (no special implements/needles are used during the consult).
Anthony also has a great interest in travel and culture and has traveled extensively throughout the world. In 2006, Anthony gained valuable experience working alongside another osteopath as a manual therapist throughout Europe.
His main interest is in human anatomy and physiology, the history, philosophy and principals of Osteopathy and he is continuing further study in advances of Osteopathic research and practice and how it applies to people of all ages and different backgrounds. He believes in a ‘holistic’ and dynamic approach to treatment and individualising care based on the individual rather than just their symptoms.
