Dr Tony Bongiorno was born in Melbourne and for the most part lived in Flemington studying at St Brendan’s then Xavier College. He graduated from Melbourne University in 1982. Dr Bongiorno's clinical training was at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and Ballarat Base Hospital in medicine and obstetrics before becoming a GP in Ballarat where he has worked in essentially a family practice.
