Anke grew up in Germany. She worked for a year as a nurse prior to studying Medicine at Rostock University, Germany. She qualified in 1994 after coming back from a year in Australia & New Zealand. Whilst on maternity leave she completed her thesis 'Premanture rupture of fetal membranes' in 1995 & got her PhD. Anke completed her post graduate GP training in 2003 at the George Elliot Hospital in Nuneaton, UK, which included posts in Accident & Emergency, Paediatrics, Obstsetrics & Gynaecology and Psychiatry. Before moving to Australia she got certificates in Family Planning & Obstetrics and worked in a general practice in Coleshill, a rural town in the UK. Since coming to Australia in 2003, she has spent all her time in General Practice in Moruya, especially enjoying working with women & children. Anke endeavours to offer a holistic approach to medicine by routinely involving allied health specialists & alternative care practitioners. She is interested in herbal medicine. Anke is also teaching medical students at the ANU Rural Clinic School & works as a Supervisor for GP Registrars & Medical Students. She is married, a mother of 2 & enjoys cooking with her children, reading, writing, being creative & loves nature. Anke also enjoys walking the family dog & all the little things life has to offer, like smelling roses. Her favourite flowers include freesia & spoon lily.
