Dr Andrew Taylor is a visiting gastroenterologist at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and works in private practice at Central Melbourne Gastroenterology and also in Surrey Hills. He trained in gastroenterology at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and in Edinburgh, Scotland and undertook further study in Germany. He completed a research degree in 2000, on the assessment of new techniques in endoscopy.
Dr Taylor manages all areas of gastroenterology including liver disease and inflammatory bowel disease. His areas of special interest are advanced interventional endoscopy, including removal of large colonic polyps, management of Barrett’s oesophagus, small bowel investigations including Pillcam and ERCP for biliary diseases.
He heads the Barrett’s endoscopic treatment programme at St Vincent’s and has developed a large experience in endoscopic assessment and therapies for dysplastic Barrett’s oesophagus. He is involved in supervision of ongoing clinical research projects in this area. He also manages adults who have had surgery as infants for oesophageal atresia, as part of a transition program from the Royal Children’s Hospital.
