Andrew Smith is an Upper Gastro-intestinal specialist general surgeon. He trained in surgery at The Alfred in Melbourne, becoming fully qualified in 1996. Post graduate training was undertaken in the U.K. for a further 2 years to obtain expertise in laparoscopic and resectional upper GI surgery.
His particular areas of interest include laparoscopic surgery, bariatric and anti-reflux surgery, gallstones and hernia surgery. As well as being a part of the surgical team at the Centre for Bariatric Surgery, Mr Smith also works at The Alfred Hospital, Glen Iris Private and Cabrini Hospital and is a senior lecturer in the Department of Surgery, Monash Medical School. He has been doing Lap-band surgery since 2003. Andrew also operates patients who wish to have Lap-band surgery, Sleeve Gastrectomy or Gastric By-pass.
Andrew also operates patients who wish to have Lap-band surgery, Sleeve Gastrectomy, Gastric Bypass and the endoscopic procedure: Orbera intragastric balloon.
