My passion is for individual, personalised and compassionate care. My goal at OrthoNorth, and of all at OrthoNorth, is that we are not a corporatised “orthopaedic factory.” My practice puts patients first, and I answer to my patients, not external shareholders or influences.
I specialise in reconstructive orthopaedic surgery aimed at restoring function and quality of life to individuals affected by osteoarthritis arthritis, acute traumatic injury and illness affecting the musculoskeletal system.
I am a fellow of both the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (Orthopaedics, 1995) and the Australian Orthopaedic Association (2002). My surgical training in orthopaedics was in Sydney and Exeter UK.
Recently, I was appointed the Network Clinical Director in the areas of Musculoskeletal Health, Burns/Plastics, Trauma and Spinal for Northern Sydney Local Health District, encompassing the Royal North Shore Campus and five associated hospitals. I am an orthopaedic surgeon in the Australian Defence Force as a member of the Army Reserve. As Colonel Andrew Ellis, I have much experience in providing support to various missions in austere environments overseas, having served in active duty in East Timor, Afghanistan, the Solomon Islands and following the tsunami in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. Additionally, I volunteer with Orthopaedic Outreach programs through the Australian Orthopaedic Association, with particular interest in establishing orthopaedic centres of education in Papua New Guinea.
I am a national board member of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, the Royal Australian College of Surgeons, the National Trauma Centre and a member of the Association of Military Surgeons of US and the Western Pacific Orthopaedic Association.
I operate privately through North Shore Private Hospital and through the NSLHD centres of Royal North Shore Hospital and Ryde Hospital. My central office is my rooms at AMA House, 69 Christie St, St Leonards.
