Andrea was a late starter to medical studies. She initially undertook her nursing training at St Andrews War Memorial Hospital in Brisbane and then completed an eighteen month midwifery course in England in 1983. She loved midwifery but returned to Australia in 1985 to explore entry pathways to study medicine as a “mature age” student. She graduated from University of Newcastle in 1995 with a Bachelor of Medicine and after 2 years in Orange she completed her Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Lismore in 1997. Upon returning to Brisbane in 1998 she worked at the Mater Hospital for a year and then went on to complete her RACGP training in 2002.As a GP Andrea worked in various areas of Brisbane and in 2009 she left Australian shores again to work in Cork, Ireland for 18 months at a VHI Swiftcare clinic. Since returning to Australia in 2010 she has worked as a locum around Brisbane and also spent 3 yrs as a locum in regional QLD – Bileola, Normanton, Cairns, Mackay, Bribie Island.
Andrea enjoys all aspects of general practice and has completed the shared care alignment program with the Mater to provide antenatal shared care.
