Dr Amy Teh (Radiation Oncologist)

Dr Amy Yuen Meei Teh is an experienced radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Wahroonga and Icon Cancer Centre Gosford. She graduated with honours from the University of New South Wales in 2001 and completed radiation oncology training at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, Australia. Dr Teh subsequently completed a clinical research fellowship at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, Canada, where she was the recipient of the Phyllis Hantho Breast Cancer Research Fund and was awarded the Weekend to End Breast Cancer Research Fellowship for her research. She returned to Australia in 2009 as a consultant radiation oncologist at the Radiation Oncology Institute and Sydney Adventist Hospital.

Dr Teh has special interests in breast cancer and prostate cancer, with certification from the Seattle Prostate Institute, USA for both low dose rate and high dose rate brachytherapy. Dr Teh has an active interest in prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA) positron emission tomography (PET) imaging and stereotactic adaptive body radiotherapy in prostate cancer, using Tomotherapy, volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and has completed the ESTRO course in image-guided stereotactic radiotherapy from Lille, France.

Dr Teh is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Sydney Adventist Hospital Clinical School, Sydney Medical School, University of Sydney, and was awarded Excellence in Teaching in 2014. Dr Teh is also examiner for the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Radiology (RANZCR).

Dr Teh has been lead author of publications in the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology & Physics (IJROBP) and Journal of Thoracic Oncology. Dr Teh’s research on concomitant intensity modulated boost during whole breast hypo-fractionated radiotherapy was published in the Journal of the European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ESTRO). More recently, Dr Teh has presented and published on prostate brachytherapy and the use of SpaceOAR™ in prostate radiation therapy.

Dr Teh’s research has been presented at the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO), Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (USANZ), Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Radiology (RANZCR) and University of Toronto radiation oncology scientific meetings.

A member of Trans-Tasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG) and Australia and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate Cancer (ANZUP) clinical trials group, Dr Teh is site-principal-investigator of international trials on post-prostatectomy radiotherapy (RAVES) and the use of adjuvant systemic/ hormone therapy with prostate radiotherapy (ENZARAD).

Dr Teh is research supervisor to University of Sydney medical students. She is a reviewer for the IJROBP and Journal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology (JMIRO). Dr Teh has been invited speaker on prostate and breast cancer management both locally and internationally. Dr Teh was also part of a volunteer oncology team to the Solomon Islands.
