Hello, I’m Dr Amanda Adams, and I love being a GP! Being a GP is a privilege. Probably more than any other area of medicine, we get to know patients and their families in depth. I trained as a doctor, and then specialised in family medicine, in England. I qualified in 1997, and completed my general practice training in 2003. I became a GP principle in 2005, owning a shared practice until 2011, when my family and I emigrated to the Gold Coast. I enjoy all aspects of General Practice, and am particularly interested in chronic disease (like diabetes, heart disease, respiratory medicine and gastroenterology), skin cancer, women’s health and mental health. Gaining my Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2001, I have maintained a keen interest in all aspects of women’s health, sexual health and contraception. I fit the Implanon (rod) and the Mirena (IUD). At Haan Health, we like to give every patient ‘VIP’ treatment, with thorough, knowledgeable care, so they feel they have been listened to and looked after. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my husband and 3 children, on the beach, on the water, and in the water.
