Dr Alfeen Varghese (GP)
Alfeen too is a UK trained GP and moved with her family to Australia in 2008, where she obtained her FRACGP degree.
Alfeen undertook her undergraduate Medical degree from India and went on to complete her 3 year post graduate degree in General Medicine with an additional research in Cardiology. She then worked as a Consultant Physician in a Mission hospital in Rural India and helped to set up the Department of Medicine and expand the Pharmacy department. She also worked in Community projects, women empowerment and adult literacy programs.
She moved to the UK in 2003, and due to family reasons she then retrained to be a GP with the NHS in Scotland. She went on to do hospital training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Psychiatry (General and Old age) and successfully completed her MRCGP exams in the UK after which she worked as a locum GP. She has also successfully completed her Diploma in Family planning and Sexual health training in the UK. She is also an accredited GP trainer with the Bogong GP Training network and has been a supervisor for IMG’s.
Her main areas of interest are chronic disease management including diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, asthma, emphysema, rheumatology, preventative medicine, geriatric and paediatric medicine and women’s health.
