Dr Ajay Sinhal is an Interventional Cardiologist, having graduated from the University of Mumbai in 1996, completing cardiology-advanced training in 2002. Dr Sinhal then completed interventional fellowships in Australia and Canada.
After undertaking a one-year interventional cardiology fellowship at St Paul’s hospital in Vancouver, Canada he joined the Heart and Vascular Institute and Flinders Medical Centre as an Interventional Cardiologist.
Dr Sinhal has a specialized and unique interest in trans-catheter solutions for structural heart disease including valvular pathologies.
A cardiac team led by Dr Sinhal performed the first catheter-based heart valve replacement using Edwards Sapien transcatheter valve in Australasia in November 2008.
Dr Sinhal is director of invasive services at Flinders Medical Centre. He performs both diagnostic and interventional coronary procedures including complex interventions (rota ablator, IVUS, Radiwire assessment). He has expertise in various interventions including trans-catheter aortic valve implantation, balloon valvuloplasties, transcatheter closure of PFO/ASD/PDA and renal artery denervation for management of hypertension.
Dr Sinhal is well-recognized expert in transcatheter aortic valve implantation and works as a proctor with Edwards’s life sciences, helping many national and international centers to set up their trans-catheter aortic valve implantation program. He has been invited to many national and international meetings as a speaker and panelist.
Dr Sinhal is the author of more than 25 manuscripts in addition to more than 30 published abstracts. He is principal investigator for many international multicentre clinical trials. He has a keen interest in teaching at all levels.
