Dr Aimee Maxwell is an endorsed Educational and Developmental psychologist who works with clients of all ages to help them achieve goal-focused changes or acceptance.
She sees people in various modes and a referral is not required unless a Medicare rebate is needed. She also provides telehealth or remote psychology – telephone and online video-conferencing psychology services.
Aimee provides support that helps people cope with their present circumstances and if needed, move closer to living in accordance with their values. Philosophically, she believes that most people are inherently OK but that sometimes a helping hand is invaluable. Generally, we learn emotional and other life skills through instruction, modelling, and experience but sometimes life throws curve balls that are outside our range. It’s in those times that people sometimes need solace or guidance.
She provides assistance coping with anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions and obsessive-compulsive disorder. She works with those who wish to improve their coping skills in many domains: anger management, parenting, behaviour management, emotional regulation, workplace wellbeing, and stress management.
Aimee has a special interest in emotions in the workplace; her doctorate examined the interactions between emotional demands, emotional labour strategies and psychosocial health outcomes in Australian school principals. Aimee counsels individuals who are experiencing workplace difficulties – bullying, ongoing work overload and chronic stress, provides professional supervision and development workshops to educational leaders through her Thriving Principals practice.
Aimee holds an articulated PhD/Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology (2017, Monash University). Prior to that, she graduated with first-class Honours (Psychology) from a Bachelor of Behavioural Neuroscience (2010, Monash University).
