Dr Shahir is an Australian Trained Physician (Nephrologist) interested in the diagnosis and management of Chronic Kidney Disease including renal transplantation, Diabetic Nephropathy as well as Hypertension and vasculitis including lupus nephritis. Dr Shahir currently works as a renal physician at the Nepean and Blue mountain hospitals (part of Western Renal Services which includes Westmead, Blacktown and Auburn Hospitals) and Nepean Private Hospital.
Dr Shahir is the first author of “An observational outcomes study from 1966–2008, examining pregnancy and neonatal outcomes from dialysed women using data from the ANZDATA Registry” Nephrology, Volume 18, Issue 4, pages 276–284, April 2013. Dr Shahir has also had a number of abstracts presented in international scientific meetings in the field of Nephrology and Obstetric Medicine.
Dr Shahir completed his undergraduate training in the prestigious Calicut Medical College, India in 1996 and has worked in India, the United Kingdom, and the Middle east, and underwent physician training for 6 years in Australia before being accredited as a Consultant Nephrologist. Dr Shahir is also fluent in English, Malayalam, some Hindi, Urdu and Arabic. Dr Shahir is available Wednesday afternoons by appointment.
