Central Coast Vascular has managed over 70,000 patients. Vascular surgery involves the treatment of arteries and veins, commonly known as your “circulation”.
Common conditions treated include:
- Varicose veins;
- Aneurysms: such as abdominal aortic aneurysms;
- Carotid narrowings (stroke prevention);
- Narrowed or blocked arteries in the legs, abdomen, bowel or arms.
Vascular surgery has changed dramatically over time, and many conditions can now be treated using minimally invasive techniques, known as endovascular surgery.
Diagnosis of vascular conditions is performed using duplex ultrasound, exercise treadmill testing and doppler.
Your GP will often arrange one of these non-invasive tests in our specialist vascular laboratories prior to your consultation with Dr Victor Bourke or Dr Bernard Bourke. These diagnostic tests are performed at various locations including Gosford, Woy Woy and Kanwal.
After your ultrasound you may require a consultation with one of the surgeons, and if so this will be arranged. Dr Bernard Bourke or Dr Victor Bourke will discuss your diagnosis, treatment recommendations, ongoing care, and any concerns you may have.
Dr Victor Bourke and Dr Bernard Bourke are highly experienced Vascular and Endovascular Surgeons, and current Fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).
They are also members of the Australia and New Zealand Society for Vascular Surgeons (ANZSVS), which is the peak body representing Vascular and Endovascular Surgeons in Australiasia and abroad.
They are both participants in the Australasian Vascular Audit, which is an independently peer-reviewed audit process required for membership of the ANZSVS, ensuring the maintenance of the highest standards of patient care and outcomes.
