Born and raised in Melbourne. Medical student at University of Melbourne. He completed MBBS, FRACS. He then undertook further advanced vascular surgical training in UK between 1979 and 1982.
Consultant Vascular Surgeon role was commenced at Prince Henry’s and Western Hospitals in Melbourne from 1983 until 1991. Transferred to St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne in 1991 as Consultant Vascular Surgeon, where he became Director of Vascular Surgery 2008 – 2015. His main special interest area in vascular surgery has been in endovascular techniques in vascular reconstruction, this pertains to aneurysmal and occlusive arterial disease.
He introduced endovascular surgery to Vascular Curriculum in 1996, while a member of the Board of ANZSVS and in the development of the new curriculum for vascular surgical training.
He was also responsible for development and implementation of ANZSVS endovascular training guidelines and the resultant “recognition of training data base” for peripheral vascular endovascular interventions including carotid stenting and fenestrated and branched endografting. He has been involved in vascular training and case mentoring throughout Europe, USA, South-east Asia and China since 1997.

Current interests include; Development of Endovascular Arterial Reconstructive techniques in the treatment of complicated Aortic Aneurysm Disease and Arterial Occlusive Disease with special interest in developing techniques in fenestrated and branched endografting of aortic aneurysms. Integration of these techniques in Vascular Surgical Training. Continued development of endovascular training. Credentialing and quality care in endovascular interventions.
