Alice Murray who joined our Kensington Psychology & Well-Being team is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) from the Adelaide Hills who has specialised skills in dietary counselling, mindful eating and facilitating positive lifestyle and behaviour change. Alice strongly believes food should be enjoyed not feared, and our eating patterns should be based around good quality, whole foods that complement our individual appetites and metabolism.

Adopting the right approach to eating begins with self-reflection toward your eating patterns and attitude to foods and your body. Alice can support you to identify and reshape the thought processes and eating behaviours that you find challenge you on a day to day basis to be healthy, fit and happy. Alice will teach you about mindful, intuitive eating, and provide you with tools and helpful strategies so you can plan, prepare and consume balance meals.

Alice completed her Honours degree in Dietetics in the United Kingdom where she commenced her career as a Dietitian and worked until returning home to Adelaide in 2009. Alice brings to our practice her unique skill mix and experience from working within a public hospital, across mental health hospitals and in her private clinic. Alice has also worked on research projects with CSIRO and the University of South Australia.

Alice works closely with Gastroenterologists, Surgeons and Stomal Therapists, and she specialists in medical nutrition therapy for gastroenterological conditions and surgical procedures including gastrointestinal cancers, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, irritable bowel syndrome and FODMAP TM intervention, intestinal failure and malabsorptive disorders as well as bariatric surgery procedures.

In her private practice, Alice has a special interest in working with teenage and adult clients who have disordered eating. Alice counsels clients in mindful and intuitive eating and supports clients to develop balanced eating attitudes and behaviours. Alice also works alongside psychiatrists, psychologists and mental health nurses to provide nutrition counselling to clients with a wide range of mental health disorders that impact on their weight management, control of chronic conditions such as diabetes, and general well-being.
