Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy or ESWT is a method of treatment of kidney stones (Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy), shoulder tendinitis, and other conditions by application of high-intensity ultrasonic acoustic radiation.

In more recent years this type of technology has become popular in the treatment of musculo-skeletal conditions. Presently it is only approved in the US by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treatment of plantar heel spurs, plantar fasciitis and tennis elbow.
