Dr Peter Solin is a highly trained authority in sleep disorders medicine and respiratory medicine, having graduated from Melbourne University in 1987 and undertaken specialist training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Alfred Hospital, as well as in the UK, gaining his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 1996. His PhD was awarded for elucidating the mechanisms of breathing abnormalities in humans with heart disease. From 1997 he has worked as a consultant at The Alfred and Monash Medical Centre in the role of sleep disorders and respiratory medicine, lung transplantation medicine and cystic fibrosis care. From 2001 he held the Honorary Clinical Chair of the Australasian Sleep Association for four years. A senior lectureship is held at Monash University, with research interests in breathing and cardiovascular disease. More recently he has focused on the delivery of expert healthcare in Melbourne and country regional and remote centres, beyond the constraints of public hospital environments, such as his program of home sleep testing through National Sleep Diagnostics.
